Rabbit Meat Processing Plant in the Otomí and Mazahua Region of the State of México
The rabbit meat and derivatives production industry in Mexico is distributed 95% in small-scale farms and 5% in agro-industrial farms (SENASICA, 2016). The absence of a certified rabbit protein slaughter and transformation plant (TIF Plant) prevents the integration of the primary sector with the industrial sector, which translates into a weak relationship with the value chain and the supply chain.
Building a TIF Plant is the main objective required by the rabbit industry to transform itself as a cluster and give access to rabbit farmers in the rural and peri-urban areas of the north, north-west and east of the State to regulated markets and formal establishments, ensuing the generation of economies of scale. The TIF plant will allow an area for slaughter and certified transformation that complyes with health regulations in terms of Good Rabbit Meat Production Practices (BPPC), and the National Health, Safety and Quality Service (SENASICA).
For 6 years now, AZORU, in collaboration with small and medium-scale family rabbit farmers, has been developing the support documents to carry out the TIF Plant. Currently, the intervention is being carried out in the communities in the northern part of the State of Mexico, where it will be installed.

Digital Platform for Rabbit Meat Production Best Practices in Central Mexico
The development of a Digital Platform (DP) for good rabbit meat production practices will allow rabbit farmers to enhance productive and sustainable skills, focusing on inclusion and green jobs.
AZORU carried out zootechnical, zoosanitary and socioeconomic studies on rabbit farms aim to identify the needs of the industry and, from a “Collaborative Work” approach, has proposed a “cyberphysical” intervention (Industry 4.0, ECLAC) to access markets to reduce the technological gap and promote industrial transformation.

Sustainability Program for Rural and Last-Mile Transportation
Rural and last-mile transporters are a fundamental component of the mobility infrastructure in many regions of the country. Often overlooked, these transporters play a crucial role in connecting rural and remote communities to urban areas, facilitating access to essential goods and services. However, due to their unique characteristics, such as the small scale of their operations and limited financial resources, they face significant challenges in accessing traditional financing for vehicle fleet renewal. This lack of access to adequate credit restricts their ability to professionalize their services and maintain high standards in their work.
At AZORU, we understand these challenges and work hand in hand with small-scale transport organizations to create accessible and sustainable financing solutions. Our approach focuses on designing credit mechanisms with low-interest rates and payment terms tailored to the transporters' capacities and income cycles. This method allows transporters not only to renew their vehicles but also to invest in service improvements, thus increasing the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of their operations.

By offering these customized financing options, we aim to transform the rural and last-mile transportation landscape, providing transporters with the necessary tools to professionalize their work and improve their quality of life. This approach benefits not only the transporters but also contributes to enhanced connectivity across the country and promotes the economic and social development of rural communities. With the right support, rural transporters can become key agents of a more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable mobility system.
